Why KLEURVOL?

Why KLEURVOL?

‘Colour is my daylong obsession, joy and torment.’ (Claude Monet)

That about sums it up. An unwavering obsession with colour.

If you’re not from South Africa or not familiar with my native language (Afrikaans), ‘kleurvol’ is translated as ‘colourful’ in English. Although it’s a basic concept and something we encounter everyday - for me, colour is so much more than just a factor that applies visual meaning and depth to each day.

When I close my eyes, I see colour - its nuances, its tones, its shades, its intensity, its spectrum and its significance in every way.

The more I delve into colour and its vast array of possibilities, the more it ignites my passion to uncover and understand it more.

Now, if you’re not on the same page as me when it comes to colour - the above will just seem like someone who has a keen interest and passion for colour, which is true; but the above also dives so much deeper than a superficial visual kaleidoscope. Colour is what ascribes meaning to what I aim to do through Kleurvol Coaching.

Bear with me, if you will…

The illuminating power of colour:

I was a floral designer in the wedding industry for 13 years and then shifted towards crafting installations with preserved flowers for 4 years. I’ve always found it fascinating how powerfully flowers and their colours can impact and shift the entire feel of a room.

It reminds me of a quote by Vincent van Gogh - ‘One can speak poetry just by arranging colours well.’

This pertains to art, interior, fashion, flower styling and every other form of life where colours and their interaction with each other tell a story. The eyes of our heart are not always open and receptive to read this story, but it’s always there.

Over the past year I’ve been particularly fascinated by the impact of sub-seasons when it comes to dressing and styling. How each person has an undertone and specific features (eyes, skin tone, hair colour, contrast, etc.) that determines which sub-season of colours work best for their features.

For example, if your sub-season is soft autumn, there are specific colours within the soft autumn colour palette that will fully enhance and ignite your facial features and overall ‘glow’. If you wear colours outside of your sub-season, it can make you look (and feel) ‘drab’, tired, washed out or overpowered. The ‘wrong’ colours can also highlight features that you’d prefer to hide - the complete opposite of how your best colours can impact you.

The more I learned about sub-seasons and how to enhance a woman’s inherent beauty and best features through colour, the more I felt prompted to learn even more. At first it was merely a fascination, but then it evolved to such a keen interest that I started to experience prompts to actively pursue a course where I can solidify my understanding of this and become qualified to help women become their most beautiful self.

In June, the prompts became stronger and I ‘coincidentally’ came across an excellent course that was offered at a 30% discount for the month of June. Can’t say no to that, hey?

So, currently I’m enrolled and I’m incredibly excited at the prospect to venture with women towards a place where they are fully blooming.

From flowers to flourish:

Now, this might seem way out of bounds for someone who’s worked with flowers for many years and studied in the fields of nutrition and lifestyle. For me, it’s the most natural progression to where I feel my career is heading towards.

Although I loved working with flowers, I love seeing women bloom even more.

I had to deliver mixed dried flower bunches to a client a few weeks ago and as I placed them in the car, I felt the Spirit whisper - the time to work with flowers is coming to an end. We’re going to make women bloom. Join me, won’t you?

After this experience, there was a divine encounter at the drop-off location with two people who affirmed everything I experienced that morning as I was loading the flowers.

It’s time to focus on what has eternal value.

‘The grass withers,

the flower fades,

But the word of our God stands forever.’

(Isaiah 40:8, NKJV)

My aim with Kleurvol Coaching is to integrate everything I’ve learned about a woman (mind, body, soul and spirit) and apply it in a highly personalised, tailored manner with each woman that I journey with.

There is no cookie cutter recipe.

To truly transform a life, you need to take every facet of that person into consideration and yet be led forth by their goals and aims.

With some women it will merely be a focus on attaining better balance in their lifestyle. With other women the core focus will be image consulting and helping them feel their most beautiful self each day. For others the aim will be to seamlessly navigate through a transition in life, whilst maintaining clarity and peace through the process. For some women it will be a fully comprehensive path, where we delve into each corner of her life and shine light on areas that need to be addressed and beautified.

However this may pan out, I am here for it.

A Colourful Transformation:

Have you ever seen a woman go from having zero confidence in herself to fully opening up and blooming?

Yes, I know you’ve seen it in Princess Diaries and the likes.

But to observe this in real life leaves an imprint deeper than mere superficial acknowledgement of change.

Each and every woman deserves to feel their most beautiful self each day. Not for the sake of impressing the world, but rather to feel comfortable in their skin, embracing their strengths and flaws, and to rest in their inherent beauty.

I look forward to embracing my role towards breathing colour into women’s lives.

The unique colours that they were made for.

For the sake of joy.

For the sake of flourishing fully.
